Rio was the owner of Rio's Ranchero, a New Mexico diner/gas station near Gamma Base. His daughter Rita worked for him as a waitress. Her boyfriend Rick Jones was a regular customer, but unfortunately for Rio, business was never booming in the New Mexico desert.
