He got Rick to safety, but could not save himself. The gamma bomb hit Bruce turning him into The Hulk. Rick has been at Hulk's side for a long time. When he thought the Hulk was dead, he told Major Talbot that Bruce Banner is The Hulk. The original comic book continuity has been designated as taking place on Earth-616.

The Incredible Hulk 1966 animated seriesEdit

In the The Incredible Hulk 1966 animated series, which was part of The Marvel Super Heroes series, Rick Jones was voiced by Paul Soles. Stories and art in this series were taken directly from the Marvel comic books. Despite of the similarities between the comic and the cartoon, this reality has been designated as Earth-600026.

The Incredible Hulk 1982 animated seriesEdit

In The Incredible Hulk 1982 animated series (designated as taking place on Earth-8107), Rick Jones's character model was quite different from his comic book counterpart in an attempt to make him stand out more from Bruce Banner. This version of Rick has long blond hair and always wears a cowboy hat, befitting the New Mexico location where most of the series takes place. He has a girlfriend called Rita and is often seen hanging out at Rio's Ranchero, where Rita works for her father, Rio. In this version, Rick jones is the only person who knows that Bruce Banner and the Hulk are the same person, save for Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk.

The Incredible Hulk 1996 animated seriesEdit

In The Incredible Hulk 1996 animated series (designated as taking place on Earth-534834), Rick Jones was voiced by Luke Perry. He sported long brown hair, just like his comic book counterpart did in the 1990s. This used a motorcycle to follow the Hulk around the United States and briefly became a teenage version of the Hulk at the end of the first season. In this reality, the Hulk's secret identity was public knowledge.
