Earthquakes Happen is episode eleven of the live-action TV series The Incredible Hulk. It originally aired on May 19, 1978 on CBS.

Synopsis[]

David attempts to gain access to sophisticated gamma radiation equipment at a nuclear power plant by impersonating a plant safety expert. Unfortunately, a massive earthquake occurs, causing a number of disasters which only the power of the Hulk can stop.

Highlights[]

  • Hulk out 1: Having a row of computers fall on him during the massive earthquake and seeing Diane about to get killed by a laser shorting out as a result of the violent shaking.
  • Hulk out 2: Being hit with a blast of steam in the face while trying to turn off the nuclear reactor that is melting down.

  • Stock footage was used from the movie Earthquake (1974)—both the series and the movie were produced by Universal Pictures
  • Bill Bixby wears his own prescription eyeglasses (as David assumes the identity of Dr. Patterson)
  • Sherry Jackson was a child actor who played Danny Thomas' daughter on "Make Room for Daddy" from 1953 to 1958
  • One of the few instances where David doesn't use the first name "David" as part of his alias
  • Original scripted title was "Nuclear Cave-In"
  • The ending sequence has the theme playing with a trumpet rather than a piano.
