Carl "Crusher" Creed AKA The Absorbing Man is a dangerous enemy of the Hulk. He has the ability to turn his body into any material which he touches. This ability also lets him drain the powers of the Hulk himself. He even gained the ability at some point to absorb peoples minds thus gaining control of his victim. But after defeating the Hulk in battle he was tricked into absorbing a dead man's mind but being his being dead somehow caused a physical reaction briefly killing the Absorbing Man.

Character history[]

Carl Creed was a boxer, recruited by the Norse god Loki to fight Thor. To fight Thor, Loki gave Creed a magical formula to give him superpowers (with said potion being revealed in later comics as containing Gamma radiation). Thor and Absorbing Man fought one-another to a stand-still, until Thor learned his girlfriend Jane Foster was threatened by Loki, causing him to leave the fight which made Absorbing Man believe he had won.

After his conflicts with Thor, Absorbing Man targeted the Hulk in hopes of absorbing his powers. Absorbing Man almost completely drained Hulk, only for Hulk to revert into Bruce Banner form causing Creed to be weakened. The weakened Absorbing Man then got caught in an avalanche which he was too weak to defend himself from, causing him to quickly turn into stone and be shattered. Absorbing Man was able to reassemble the broken parts of his body and would become a recurring enemy of the Hulk after this.

In film[]

For the 2003 film Hulk, the Absorbing Man was incorporated with the character David Banner (Brian Banner in the comics), the biological father of Bruce Banner.

In cartoon[]

In Avengers: The Mightiest Heroes of Earth, this character was created with Gamma radiation just like the Abomination character. The two help the leader transform everything into a world of Gamma monsters.

In Games[]

He is a playable character in Lego Avengers
